József Pálinkás
József Pálinkás (born 18 September 1952) is a Hungarian atomic physicist and politician who served as Minister of Education between 2001 and 2002. He was President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 2008 to 2014. Education and career Pálinkás studied physics at the Attila József University in Szeged and graduated in 1977. In 1981, he received his PhD from Lajos Kossuth University of the Sciences in Debrecen. He was the director of the ATOMKI from 1991 to 1996. In 1995, he became a full professor and head of the Department of Physics at the Lajos Kossuth University of Debrecen. In 2005, he became Director of the Physics Institute at the University of Debrecen. From 2007 to 2008, he was President of the Centre of Arts, Humanities and Sciences. ATOMKI is the Institute for Nuclear Research, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The institute is located in Debrecen and was established in 1954 by Sándor Szalay, the founding director. ATOMKI became independent from the Institute of Experimental Physics of the Kossuth Lajos University (presently called University of Debrecen), where Sándor Szalay started and directed nuclear physics research for decades. László Lovász
László Lovász (; born March 9, 1948) is a Hungarian mathematician and professor emeritus at Eötvös Loránd University, best known for his work in combinatorics, for which he was awarded the 2021 Abel Prize jointly with Avi Wigderson. He was the president of the International Mathematical Union from 2007 to 2010 and the president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 2014 to 2020. In graph theory, Lovász's notable contributions include the proofs of Kneser's conjecture and the Lovász local lemma, as well as the formulation of the Erdős–Faber–Lovász conjecture. Szilveszter E. Vizi (31 December 1936) is a Hungarian physician, neuroscientist, pharmacologist and university professor who served as President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences between 2002 and 2008. He issues some of his papers under the name ''E. S. Vizi'' or ''E. Sylvester Vizi''. Biography Vizi was born in Budapest. He is the father of two children (a son and a daughter). His wife, Veronika Ádám, is a professor of biochemistry at the Semmelweis University and also a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. INSPIRE-HEP is an open access digital library for the field of high energy physics (HEP). It is the successor of the Stanford Physics Information Retrieval System (SPIRES) database, the main literature database for high energy physics since the 1970s.
