GKM Grudziądz is a Polish motorcycle speedway team based in Grudziądz. They race at the 8,000-capacity Grudziądz Speedway Stadium. The team currently competes in the Ekstraliga (speedway), Ekstraliga (the highest division) and have won the bronze medal in the Team Speedway Polish Championship once (as of 2022). Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Hungary National Speedway Team
The Hungary national speedway team are one of the teams that compete in international team motorcycle speedway. History The Hungarian speedway team first competed in the Speedway World Team Cup during the 1966 Speedway World Team Cup, finishing second in the Continental semi final round. Throughout the history of World Team Cup, the team were ever present from 1966 to 2000. However, they were one of the weaker nations and failed to reach a final for the first thirty years of the competition. The team experienced a better record in the World Pairs Championship, reaching finals in 1972, 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1993. The team's greatest success came in the 1990 final, when they won a shock bronze medal. It was not until 1996 that they appeared in their first World Team Cup final and then the following years in 1997 and 1998, repeated the achievement. Speedway World Pairs Championship
The Speedway World Pairs Championship was an annual motorcycle speedway event held annually in different countries. The first competition was held in 1968, and the final competition was held in 1993. In 1994, it was merged with the World Team Cup to create the Speedway World Cup, which held its final edition in 2017. The concept of an international pairs championship was re-established in the form of the Speedway of Nations, held for the first time in 2018. Rules The final was competed between seven national teams, and two riders represented each national team. Each pairing rode against each other once. The Vojens Speedway Center is a Motorcycle speedway track located in Vojens, Denmark. The track has been part-owned since its opening by Denmark's first three time Speedway World Champion Ole Olsen. Antal Kocso (born 22 December 1962) is a former international speedway rider from Hungary. He earned 18 caps for the Hungary national speedway team. Speedway career Kocso reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1988 Individual Speedway World Championship. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1989-1993, riding for Bradford Dukes.
