Józef Marszewski
Józef Marszewski (Lithuanian language, Lithuanian: ''Juozapas Marševskis'', Russian language, Russian: Иосиф Иванович Маршевский; – 27 March 1883) was a Polish-Lithuanian identity, Polish-Lithuanian landscape painter. He was the grandfather of , a colonel of the Polish Army. Born in Vilnius, then part of the Russian Empire, Marszewski was educated at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. Having stood out as a capable painter and friend of Ivan Shishkin, Marszewski won two silver medals for his paintings of the Neva and Ravel. After graduation, Marszewski extensively traveled Europe, painting local landscapes ranging from Spain to the Tatra mountains, as well as portraying Vilnius and its surroundings. He often set up exhibitions in Kraków, Lviv, and Warsaw. Andreas Achenbach
Andreas Achenbach (29 September 1815 – 1 April 1910) was a German landscape and seascape painter in the Romantic style. He is considered to be one of the founders of the Düsseldorf School. His brother, Oswald, was also a well known landscape painter. Together, based on their initials, they were known as the "Alpha and Omega" of landscape painters. Biography Achenbach's father Hermann (1783–1849) was a merchant by trade but worked a number of professions. In 1816, he became the manager of a metal factory in Mannheim. Two years later, Achenbach's family moved to Saint Petersburg where his father wanted to set up a factory with the money that his mother had received as an inheritance. It was here that he took his first drawing lessons. The project failed and they returned to Rhine Province in 1823.
