Jógvan Heinason (1541–1602) was Lawman (prime minister) of the Faroe Islands from 1572 to 1583. Jógvan Heinason was the son of the Norwegian priest Heine Havreki and a Faroese women, Herborg from Húsavík. The prime minister of the Faroe Islands is the head of government of the Faroe Islands. The Faroese term (plural: ) literally means "lawman" and originally referred to the legal function of lawspeaker. This old title was brought back into use to refer to the head of government after the islands obtained Home Rule in 1948. In recent decades the Faroese government has started using "Prime Minister" as the official English translation of , reflecting the increased autonomy of the islands. This translation does not apply to the pre-1816 office, only the modern leaders of the Faroese government. Heine Havreki
Heine Johnsøn Havreki (1514–1576) or ''Heine the shipwrecked'' was a Norwegian born-Icelandic Lutheran pastor who helped introduce the Protestant Reformation on the Faroe Islands. Biography Heine Johnsøn was reportedly born in Bergen, Norway the son of Jon Haraldson, an Icelandic Roman Catholic minister. While Havreki was studying in Bergen, he and some other students were travelling to Iceland but were caught up in bad weather and shipwrecked in the Faroe islands. They were taken care of by a local woman, Herborg of Húsavík, with whom he subsequently became married. Together they had a son Jógvan Heinason (1541–1602) and daughter Herborg Heinadottir (born 1542). In 1534, he served as deputy to Ámundur Olavsson, the last Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of the Faroe Islands. Magnus Heinason
Magnus Heinason (Mogens Heinesøn) (1548 – 18 January 1589) was a Faroese naval hero, trader and privateer. Magnus Heinason served William the Silent and his son Maurice of Nassau, Prince of Orange for 10 years as a privateer, fighting the Spanish in the Dutch Revolt. Magnus Heinason was given the trading rights to the Faroe Islands by King Frederick II of Denmark and Norway. Later he received letters of marque to sink or capture pirate ships and English merchant ships. Magnus built the first fortifications in Tórshavn. Only one year later, he was captured and sent to Copenhagen on the orders of the Danish treasurer and statholder, Christoffer Walkendorf (1525–1601) who was ruling Denmark after the sudden death of Frederick II. Húsavík, Faroe Islands
Húsavík () is an old village located on the east of the island of Sandoy, in Húsavík Municipality, Faroe Islands. In the centre of Húsavík there is a ruin called ‘Heimi á Garði’. It is said to be the remains of a farm that was built by the 'Lady of the House in Húsavík'. She was a strict and wealthy lady who lived in the 14th century. She owned all the land in Húsavík and also had some properties in Norway. Legend has it that she buried two servants alive. It is also said that she got all her wealth when she sold a golden horn to the King. The story goes that she found the golden horn in the ground, after dreaming of its location.
