Järvenpää Railway Station
Järvenpää railway station ( fi, Järvenpään rautatieasema, sv, Träskända järnvägsstation) is a railway station in Järvenpää about north from Helsinki Central station. It is situated northeast of the city centre on a small hill. It was one of the first railway stations in Finland, which was established along the country's first railway line in 1862. Local lines D, R, T and few rush hour trains stops at the station. In 1999 the station building was moved approximately further away from the tracks. The station has three platforms. Track 1 is for southbound trains, track 2 is for northbound non-stop-trains and the northbound local trains stops at platform 3. Tracks 2 and 3 form an island platform. Next to the station is the Järvenpää taxi rank. Many local bus lines stop at the station. The bus station is north of the station. Järvenpää (; sv, Träskända) is a town and municipality in Finland. It is located on the Helsinki– Riihimäki railway track in Uusimaa region, some north of Helsinki. Neighbouring municipalities are Tuusula, Sipoo and Mäntsälä. People also refer to Kerava as Järvenpää's neighbour, even though they do not technically share a border, thanks to the one kilometre-wide land area that belongs to Tuusula. Helsinki–Riihimäki Railway
Helsinki–Riihimäki railway is a railway running between the Helsinki Central railway station and the Riihimäki railway station in Finland, and it is part of the Finnish Main Line. It was opened in 1862 as a part of the Finland's first railway between Helsinki and Hämeenlinna. The Helsinki commuter rail system also runs by the Helsinki–Riihimäki railway. Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a railway platform, platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or bus rapid transit, transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Helsinki Central Station ( fi, Helsingin päärautatieasema, sv, Helsingfors centralstation) (HEC) is the main station for commuter rail and long-distance trains departing from Helsinki, Finland. The station is used by approximately 400,000 people per day, of whom about 200,000 are passengers. Helsinki commuter rail ( fi, Helsingin seudun lähijunaliikenne, sv, Huvudstadsregionens närtrafik) is a commuter rail system serving Greater Helsinki and the surrounding county of Uusimaa. The system is a joint venture between the regional transport authority HSL and national railway operator VR. The system operates on four railway lines and comprises 13 services, all of which terminate at Helsinki Central Station. Within the HSL region, tickets and timetables are fully integrated with other modes of public transport.
