János Gróz
János Gróz (30 June 1971 – 14 November 2020) was a Hungarian handball and beach handball coach. He was one of the most successful trainers in Hungary in the beach version of the sport. Biography János Gróz was one of the founding fathers and was considered the dominant personality in Hungarian beach handball. From 2007 he was the head coach of the Hungarian youth and junior national teams. With these he won the titles at the European Championships in 2008 and 2011 to 2015. In 2013, he also took over the Hungary women's national beach handball team from József Farkas, where he was previously assistant coach from 2009 to 2012. His assistant coach was his former player Mariann Rovnyai, with whom he had been married since 2007. With the team he won the titles at the European Beach Handball Championships in 2013 and 2015. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. Kitti Gróz
Kitti Gróz (born 5 April 1994 in Budapest) is a retired Hungarian team handball and beach handball player. Team handball career Gróz started to play handball at the age of six and her first club was Szentendrei NKE. She rose through the ranks quickly and at the end of the 2009–10 season she finished seventh on the scoring chart in the second division, hitting an impressive 7.74 goals in average (122 goals on 23 matches). Following her excellent performances many club have been interested to sign the talented left winger. Finally, Váci NKSE, which is also the parent club of Szentendrei NKE, have secured her services. The 2016 Beach Handball World Championships was a twelve-team tournament in both men's and women's beach handball, held at Budapest, Hungary from 12 to 17 July 2016. It was the seventh edition of the event. Croatia and Spain took home gold in the men's and women's event, both after defeating Brazil in the final. Format The twelve teams were split into two groups of six teams. After playing a round-robin, the three top ranked team advanced to the main round. Every team kept the points from preliminary round matches against teams who also advance. In the main round every team had three games against the opponents they did not face in the preliminary round. The top four teams advanced to the semifinals. Beach Handball
Beach handball is a team sport where two teams pass and bounce or roll a ball, trying to throw it in the goal of the opposing team. The game is similar to standard handball, but it is played on sand instead of on a solid floor. Because the ball loses most of its bounce on sand, there is little to no dribbling, and players instead perform more passing as the rules of travelling still apply. Description Matches are played as two 10-minute sets, with a half-time of 5 minutes. If teams are tied at the end of a regular set then the teams play for a golden goal. If the teams are tied at the end of 2 sets then the teams will participate in a tiebreaker. The tie break involves a goalie throwing the ball to their own player while that player attempts to score one-on-one with the opposing goalie.
