Justus Müller Hofstede
Justus Müller Hofstede (9 May 1929 - 27 April 2015) was a German art historian, the son of the art historian Cornelius Müller Hofstede (1898–1974), who had been director of the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin from 1957 to 1964. Life Born in Berlin, he received his doctorate from Freiburg University in 1959, habilitating from the University of Bonn with a thesis on Peter Paul Rubens' time in Italy from 1600 to 1608. He was a professor in the latter university's Art Historical Institute. From 1996 to 1998 he was a lecturer on its "The Renaissance in Italy and its European Reception" course on the graduate programme. From 1977 to 2004 he was chairman of Bonn's Local History and History Association (Bonner Heimat- und Geschichtsverein) and in that role was a co-founder of the Bonn City Museum. Jacob Lukas Anderson (born April 29, 1984), better known by his stage name Prof, is an American rapper, singer, and producer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He released his first full-length album, ''Project Gampo'', in 2007 and has since released six additional albums and three EPs. In 2012, ''City Pages'' named Prof on their list of Minnesota's 20 best rappers. He was formerly signed to Rhymesayers Entertainment. The Descent From The Cross (Rubens, 1600–1602)
''Descent from the Cross'' is an oil-on-canvas painting of 1600–1602 by the Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens, now in the Siegerlandmuseum in the Oberes Schloss (Siegen), Oberes Schloss in Siegen. It was his first major commissioned work made for the private chapel of Eleanor de' Medici, Eleonora de’ Medici Gonzaga (1567–1611), duchess of Mantua. The painting remained somewhat obscure until 2001, when it was discovered by German art historian Justus Müller-Hofstede, a specialist on Rubens' early work. Description The large-size altarpiece revolutionizes the usual illustrations of Jesus' Descent from the Cross of the Cinquecento and engrosses the idea of the holy Eucharist: The kneeling lady in the foreground as a symbolic embodiment of the duchess who receives the Body of Christ like a lover for supper (cf. ).
