Justus Mühlenpfordt
Justus Mühlenpfordt (22 April 1911 – 2 October 2000) was a German nuclear physicist. He received his doctorate from the '' Technische Hochschule Carolo-Wilhelmina zu Braunschweig'', in 1936. He then worked in Gustav Hertz's laboratory at Siemens. In 1945, he was sent to Institute G, near Sukhumi and under the directorship of Hertz, to work on the Soviet atomic bomb project. Released from Soviet Union, Mühlenpfordt arrived in East Germany in 1955. He was appointed director of the ''Institut für physikalische Stofftrennung'' of the Academy of Sciences, in Leipzig. From 1969 until his retirement in 1974, Mühlenpfordt was director of the ''Forschungsbereiches Kern- und Isotopentechnik der Akademie''. Early years Mühlenpfordt was born in Lübeck. Lübeck
Lübeck (; or ; Latin: ), officially the Hanseatic League, Hanseatic City of Lübeck (), is a city in Northern Germany. Peter Adolf Thiessen
Peter Adolf Thiessen (6 April 1899 – 5 March 1990) was a German physical chemist and a tribologist– he is credited as the founder of the tribochemistry. At the close of the World War II, he voluntarily went to the Soviet Union and played a crucial role in advancing the Soviet program of nuclear weapons, and was a recipient of national honors of the Soviet Union. Upon his return to East Germany in 1956, Thiessen engaged his life in the advancement of applied applications of the physical chemistry. Manfred Von Ardenne
Manfred baron von Ardenne (; 20 January 190726 May 1997) was a German researcher, autodidact in applied physics, and an inventor. He took out approximately 600 patents in fields including electron microscopy, medical technology, nuclear technology, plasma physics, and radio and television technology. From 1928 to 1945, he directed his self-funded and private research laboratory ''Forschungslaboratorium für Elektronenphysik'', where he developed and invented many techniques used in modern physics. After the World War II, von Ardenne was held in Soviet custody and was one of many of the German nuclear physicists in the former Soviet program of nuclear weapons, and later honored with the Stalin Prize by the former Soviet Union. An anode usually is an electrode of a polarized electrical device through which conventional current enters the device.
