Juozas Jagelavičius
Juozas Aleksandras Jagelavičius (12 January 1939 – 17 June 2000) was a Lithuanian rower. He competed for the Soviet Union The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Zigmas Jukna
Zigmas Pranciškus Jukna (13 July 1935 – 7 October 1980) was a Lithuanian rower. He competed for the Soviet Union at the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympics, and finished in second, fifth and third place in the coxed pairs, eights and eights events, respectively. Between 1961 and 1969 he won three gold and five silver medals at European and world championships. Starting from 1971 he worked as a judge with the International Rowing Federation. In 1962, Jukna graduated from the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. He was married to Irena Jukna, also a competitive rower; they had a son. 1969 European Rowing Championships
The 1969 European Rowing Championships were rowing championships held on the Wörthersee in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt. This edition of the European Rowing Championships was held from 5 to 7 September for women, and a few days later for men. Women entered in five boat classes (W1x, W2x, W4x+, W4+, W8+), and 15 countries—including the United States—sent 47 boats. Men competed in all seven Olympic boat classes (M1x, M2x, M2-, M2+, M4-, M4+, M8+). An innovation was that petite finals were held to determine places 7 to 12. Background At its congress held in conjunction with the 1967 European Rowing Championships in Vichy, the International Rowing Federation (FISA) had decided that the 1969 Championships would be held on the Lake of Banyoles in Spain. Genovaitė Ona Strigaitė (later Jagelavičienė, born 28 May 1942) is a retired Lithuanian rower who won one gold and one silver medal in the eights event at the European Championships of 1963–1964. Between 1948 and 1958 Strigaitė and her family lived in exile in Siberia. In 1965 she graduated from the Vilnius University with a degree in physics and mathematics. In 1963–1965 she worked as a rowing coach, between 1966 and 1992 as a technician at the Vilnius Radio, and in 1992–2008 as a welfare functionary at the Vilnius City Office.
