Julio Morales (Uruguayan Footballer)
Julio César Morales Araújo, nicknamed ''Cascarilla'' (16 February 1945 – 14 February 2022) was a Uruguayan professional footballer who played as a striker. He was part of the Uruguay squad for the 1970 World Cup, where they finished fourth, as well as in a Mundialito winning team in January 1981, at the age of almost 36. He won a number of trophies in South America and Europe including the Copa Libertadores in 1971 and 1980. Club career Morales started his career in 1961 at the age of 16 with Racing Club de Montevideo, in 1965 he was signed by Uruguayan giants Nacional he helped the club to win five league titles and a Copa Libertadores before moving to Europe to play for Austria Wien. With Austria Wien he won two Austrian league titles and two Austrian Cups, he also played in the European Cup Winners Cup final in 1978. 1970 FIFA World Cup
The 1970 FIFA World Cup was the 9th edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international Association football, football championship for List of men's national association football teams, men's senior national teams. The Austrian Cup (), known as UNIQA ÖFB Cup for sponsorship purposes, is an annual football competition held by the Austrian Football Association, the ÖFB. During the 2008–09 season, Austria Wien won the tournament for a record 27th time. Wolfsberger AC are the current holders, winning their first ever cup trophy in the 2024-25 edition. The Copa Interamericana () was an international association football, football competition endorsed by CONCACAF (North, Central America and Caribbean) and CONMEBOL (South America). Established in 1969, it was discontinued in 1998 after CONCACAF clubs, particularly those from Mexico, began participating in CONMEBOL competitions. The competition was intended to be contested between the winners of the North American CONCACAF Champions Cup and the South American Copa Libertadores tournaments, although the participants varied at times. The competition was usually contested over a two legged tie, with a playoff or penalty kicks if necessary, but it was common for several consecutive editions to go unheld. The 1980 Intercontinental Cup was an association football match played on 11 February 1981 between Nacional of Uruguay, winners of the 1980 Copa Libertadores, and Nottingham Forest of England, winners of the 1979–80 European Cup. The match was played for the first time at the neutral venue of the now demolished National Stadium in Tokyo in front of 62,000 fans. Waldemar Victorino was named as man of the match. The 1971 Intercontinental Cup was an association football tie held over two legs in December 1971 between the runners-up of the 1970–71 European Cup, Panathinaikos, replacing European Cup winners Ajax which declined to participate, and Nacional, winners of the 1971 Copa Libertadores. The first leg was held on 15 December 1971 at the Karaiskakis Stadium, home of Olympiacos, as Panathinaikos ground was deemed unsuitable. The match finished up as a 1–1 draw. The goals came from Totis Filakouris in the 48th minute and Luis Artime in the 50th minute. Julio Morales broke the leg of Yiannis Tomaras and was sent off. The Intercontinental Cup, officially the European/South American Cup and known from 1980 as the Toyota Cup for sponsorship reasons, was an international association football, football competition endorsed by UEFA (Europe) and CONMEBOL (South America), contested between representative clubs from these confederations, usually the winners of the UEFA Champions League and the South American Copa Libertadores.
