Julio César Gandarilla Bermejo
Julio César Gandarilla Bermejo (1943 – 24 November 2020) was a Cuban politician who served as Minister of the Interior from January 2017 until his death. Life and career Gandarilla Bermejo was born in 1943 in Matanzas Province, Cuba. Gandarilla Bermejo was a founder of the National Revolutionary Militia. He was a vice admiral in the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, and fought in the Angolan Civil War. He was head of the Military Counterintelligence Directorate for 16 years. Gandarilla Bermejo was a member of the Communist Party of Cuba, and a deputy in the National Assembly of People's Power. In 2015, Gandarilla Bermejo became First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior, replacing Carlos Fernández Gondín, who became Minister of the Interior. In January 2017, he became Minister of the Interior, succeeding Carlos Fernández Gondín who had died earlier that month, becoming the sixth Minister of the Interior since the role was created in 1961. Granma (newspaper)
''Granma'' is the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba. It was formed in 1965 by the merger of two previous papers, (from Spanish: "Revolution") and ("Today"). Publication of the newspaper began in February of 1966. Its name comes from the yacht '' Granma'' that carried Fidel Castro and 81 other rebels to Cuba's shores in 1956, launching the Cuban Revolution. The newspaper has been a way for the Cuban Communist Party to communicate their ideology to the world, especially in regards to the United States. Marta Rojas worked for the paper since its founding. Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel y Bermúdez (; born 20 April 1960) also known as MADCB, is a politician and engineer who is the third first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba. Díaz-Canel succeeds the brothers Fidel and Raúl Castro, making him the first non-Castro leader of Cuba since the revolution. Díaz-Canel's leadership thus represents a non-dynastic form of succession for the party as well as for the state, and the end of Castro leadership in Cuba.
