Julian Gens
The gens Julia was one of the most prominent patrician (ancient Rome), patrician families of ancient Rome. From the early decades of the Roman Republic, Republic, members of this gens served in the highest offices of the Roman state, beginning with Gaius Julius Iulus (consul 489 BC), Gaius Julius Iulus, Roman consul, consul in 489 BC. However, the Julii are perhaps best known for Caesar, Gaius Julius Caesar, the Roman dictator, dictator and adoptive father of the emperor Augustus, through whom the name was passed to the Julio-Claudian dynasty of the first century AD. Julians Vaivods
Julijans Vaivods (18 August 1895 – 24 May 1990) was a Latvian Catholic prelate who served as Apostolic Administrator of Riga and of Liepāja from 1964 until his death in 1990. He was made a cardinal in 1983, the first from Latvia. He was the oldest living cardinal when he died at age 94. He was also a KGB agent throughout the Soviet period in Latvia. Biography Julijans Vaivods studied at the Saint Petersburg Roman Catholic Theological Academy, Russia. He was ordained priest for the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Mohilev by Bishop Jan Cieplak on 7 April 1918 in St. Petersburg. He was initially sent back to Latgale to serve as a parish priest and school chaplain. He came under the jurisdiction of the newly restored Diocese of Riga on 22 September 1918. He was sent to serve as a parish priest in Courland (Kurzeme) in 1925. He later came under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Liepāja when it was created in 1937. Julians Zagorskis
Julians Zagorskis (April 1903 – 1978) was a Latvian and Latgalian ceramicist. Biography Julians Zagorskis was born in Eisāgi village in the modern-day Rušona Parish, Russian Empire in 1903. He was born in a ceramicists family, his brother Augusts was also a well-known Latgalian ceramicist. He started to work as a ceramicist in 1918. Zagorskis, alongside Andrejs Paulāns, Polikarps Vilcāns and others, was one of the Latgalian ceramicists that was represented in 1957 Silajāņi ceramics exhibition in Rīga, organized by Jānis Pujāts. In later years, his works were selected for the exhibitions in Latvian SSR and abroad, in Moscow, Soviet Union. Zagorskis died in 1978. He is buried in the Eisāgi cemetery. Len Julians
Leonard Bruce Julians (19 June 1933 – 17 December 1993) was an English footballer who played as a centre forward in the Football League for Leyton Orient, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Millwall and the Detroit Cougars during his footballing career. Julians also managed Kenyan club Gor Mahia, with him being one of the most successful and respected managers in the outfit's history. Career He started as an amateur at Walthamstow Avenue before turning professional with Leyton Orient in 1956. He helped the Brisbane Road club to the Division Three South Championship with 11 goals in ten games in his first season, scoring 35 goals overall in his 66 games. His goal scoring form attracted the attention of First Division Arsenal, who signed him in December 1958. His chances were limited but scored 10 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.
