Juan Francisco Rodríguez Márquez (12 November 1949 – 16 April 2019) was a Spanish boxer. As an amateur he won the 1971 European flyweight title and reached the quarterfinals at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Juan Rodriguez (Dutch: , Portuguese: ) was the first documented non-indigenous inhabitant to live on Manhattan Island. As such, he is considered the first non-native resident of what would eventually become New York City. Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo (; 1497 – January 3, 1543) was a Portuguese maritime explorer best known for investigations of the west coast of North America, undertaken on behalf of the Spanish Empire. He was the first European to explore present-day Alta California, navigating along the coast of California in 1542–1543 on his voyage from New Spain (modern Mexico). Ferdinand Magellan ( – 27 April 1521) was a Portuguese explorer best known for having planned and led the 1519–22 Spanish expedition to the East Indies. During this expedition, he also discovered the Strait of Magellan, allowing his fleet to pass from the Atlantic into the Pacific Ocean and perform the first European navigation to Asia via the Pacific. Magellan was killed in battle in the Philippines and his crew, commanded by the Spanish Juan Sebastián Elcano, completed the return trip to Spain in 1522 achieving the first circumnavigation of Earth in history. Juan Rodríguez de Fonseca (1451–1524) was a Spanish archbishop, a courtier and bureaucrat, whose position as royal chaplain to Queen Isabella enabled him to become a powerful counsellor to Ferdinand and Isabella, the Catholic Monarchs. He controlled the ''Casa de Contratación'', an agency which managed expeditions to the New World on behalf of the Spanish crown. He later served as the president of the Council of the Indies, when it was founded in 1521. Juan Francisco "Chico" Rodríguez (born 12 September 1960) is a Mexican former professional baseball infielder and manager. Career Juan Francisco Rodríguez was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León on 12 September 1960. He made his professional debut in the Mexican League for the Cafeteros de Córdoba in 1977, aged 16. In 1980, he moved to the Broncos de Reynosa, where played the next four seasons. In 1983, Rodríguez joined the Bravos de León, where he played until 1987. In 1988 and 1989, Rodríguez played for the Leones de Yucatán. In 1990, Rodríguez transferred to his hometown club Sultanes de Monterrey, where he was part of the team that won the 1991 season. Juan Antonio "Chi-Chi" Rodríguez (October 23, 1935 – August 8, 2024) was a Puerto Rican professional golfer. The winner of eight PGA Tour events, he was the first Puerto Rican to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. Early life Rodríguez was born into a poor family in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was one of six siblings. His father used to earn $18 a week as a laborer and cattle handler.
