Juan Núñez (tennis)
Juan Núñez (born 23 September 1956) is a former professional tennis player and coach, from Chile. Playing career Núñez partnered Alejandro Gattiker at the 1977 French Open but the pair were unable to get past the first round. In 1979, Núñez was a singles quarter-finalist at the Santiago Grand Prix tournament, with wins over Fernando Luna and Andrés Gómez. He played John McEnroe in the opening round of the 1981 US Open and claimed the first set in a tiebreak, before losing in four. In the doubles, Núñez and Fernando Maynetto lost in the first round. Also that year, he made the round of 16 in the singles draw at the Boston Pro Championships. Coaching Núñez coached Chris Evert in the late 1980s, before joining Arantxa Sánchez Vicario in 1989. Fernando Maynetto
Fernando Maynetto (born 2 December 1955) is a former professional tennis player from Peru. Career Maynetto, a national junior college champion, played at Wingate College, before joining Clemson University in 1975. He represented Peru in 10 Davis Cup ties during his career, from 1975 to 1985, but won just three of his 20 rubbers. The Peruvian reached the round of 16 in the men's doubles at the 1981 Wimbledon Championships, with Roberto Carruthers as his partner. He wasn't ever able to make it past the opening round of the singles draw in a Grand Slam, from four attempts. One of his losses was to Ivan Lendl at the 1982 French Open. The 1994 Virginia Slims Championships were played on indoor carpet courts at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, United States between November 14 and November 20. It marked the last singles tournament for Martina Navratilova until her comeback in 2002. The singles title was won by unseeded Gabriela Sabatini who earned $250,000 first-prize money. Gabriela Sabatini
Gabriela Beatriz Sabatini (; born 16 May 1970) is an Argentine former professional tennis player. A former world No. 3 in both singles and doubles, Sabatini was one of the leading players from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s, amassing 41 titles across both disciplines. In singles, Sabatini won the 1990 US Open, the WTA Finals in 1988 and 1994, and was runner-up at Wimbledon 1991, the 1988 US Open, and the silver medalist at the 1988 Olympics. In doubles, she won Wimbledon in 1988 partnering Steffi Graf, and reached three French Open finals. Natalya "Natasha" Maratovna Zvereva (born 16 April 1971) is a former professional tennis player from Belarus. She was the first major athlete in the Soviet Union to demand publicly that she should be able to keep her tournament earnings. Zvereva and her main doubles partner Gigi Fernández are the most successful women's doubles team (measured by WTA Tour and major titles) since Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver.
