Juan José Muñoz
Juan José Muñoz (3 June 1950 – 8 May 2013) was an Argentine businessman. He was an advisor to the current Minister of Interior, Mr. Aníbal Fernández, during the period when the latter was a federal senator. Afterwards, he worked for the trade union that represents State Workers (the “Asociación Mutual de Trabajadores del Estado”, or AMTE). Muñoz was born in La Plata, Argentina. He was a self-made man, who rose from humble beginnings to become the owner of various agencies specializing in finances, tourism, and insurance, as well as a building company and a hotel chain. In November 2004, he was elected President of the football club Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, the oldest club currently affiliated to the Argentine Football Association (AFA). La Plata
La Plata () is the capital city of Buenos Aires province, Argentina. A self-made man is a person whose success is of their own making. Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, has been described as the greatest exemplar of the self-made man. Inspired by Franklin's autobiography, Frederick Douglass developed the concept of the self-made man in a series of lectures that spanned decades starting in 1879.
