Juan Carlos Pinzón
Juan Carlos Pinzón Bueno (born December 22, 1972 in Bogotá) is a Colombian diplomat, politician and economist. He is the current Ambassador of Colombia to the United States and former Minister of Defence. Pinzon comes from a military family, his father was a Colonel in the Colombian Army. Minister of Defence Pinzón received honourable mention for his outstanding academic performance as BSC in economics. He holds a Master’s of Science in Economics from the Pontifical Xavierian University, where In addition, he was awarded a scholarship for his Master’s in Public Policy at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Pinzón also completed his advanced studies in international relations and strategic studies at The Johns Hopkins University, and in science and technology policy at Harvard University. The ambassador of Colombia to the United States is the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Colombia to the United States of America, accredited as Concurrent Non-Resident Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The Ambassador is Colombia's foremost diplomatic representative to the United States, and Chief of Mission in Washington, D.C. The Ambassador however, is not the only Colombian diplomat in the United States, the other two being the Permanent Representative of Colombia to the Organization of American States also in Washington, D.C., and the Permanent Representative of Colombia to the United Nations in New York City. ''El Espectador'' (meaning "The Spectator") is a newspaper with national circulation within Colombia, founded by Fidel Cano Gutiérrez on 22 March 1887 in Medellín and published since 1915 in Bogotá. It changed from a daily to a weekly edition in 2001, following a financial crisis, and became a daily again on 11 May 2008, a comeback which had been long rumoured, in tabloid format (28 x 39.5 cm). From 1997 to 2011 its main shareholder was Julio Mario Santo Domingo. It is the oldest newspaper in Colombia.
