Joué-sur-Erdre (, literally ''Joué on Erdre''; Gallo language, Gallo: ''Jóae'', ''Jouë'' or ''Joueu'', ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Loire-Atlantique Departments of France, department in western France. Etymology ''Joué'' is first mentioned as ''Joseio'' in 1186. It belongs to the long list of Gallo-Romance toponyms such as Joué, Jouy (other), Jouy, Gouy (other), Gouy and Occitano-Catalan Gaujac (other), Gaujac having as origin ''Gaudiacu'' cf. Joué-en-Charnie (Sarthe, ''Gaudiaco'' 1186) or Joué-Étiau (Maine-et-Loire, ''Gaudiacus'' AB 7th, etc. It is a compound of ''Gaudi(us)'', a Christian name based on ''gaudius'' "joy" and the Gaulish (Celtic) suffix ''-acum'' "place, property" cf. Abbaretz (; Gallo: ''Abarèt'', ) is a commune in the Loire-Atlantique department in the Pays de la Loire region of western France. Geography Abbaretz is located 20 km south-west of Châteaubriant and 20 km north-east of Blain. Access to the commune is by the D2 road from Nozay in the west passing through the village and continuing east to La Meilleraye-de-Bretagne. The D1 road comes from Treffieux in the north passing through the village and continuing south. The D35 road comes from Issé in the north-east passing through the village and continuing south-west to Puceul. Gallo Language
Gallo ( endonym: ''Galo''; ) is a regional language of eastern Brittany. It is one of the langues d'oïl, a Romance sub-family that includes French. Today it is spoken only by a minority of the population, as the standard form of French now predominates in this area. Gallo was originally spoken in the Marches of Neustria, an area now corresponding to the border lands between Brittany, Normandy, and Maine. Gallo was a shared spoken language among many of those who took part in the Norman conquest of England, most of whom originated in Upper (i.e. eastern) Brittany and Lower (i.e. western) Normandy, and thus had its part, together with the much bigger role played by the Norman language, in the development of the Anglo-Norman variety of French which would have such a strong influence on English.
