José Rico Pérez
José Rico Pérez (13 March 1918 in Daya Nueva – 6 July 2010 in Alacant) was a Spanish businessman who was chairman of the Spanish football club Hércules CF from 1971 until 1985. During Rico's tenure Hércules went through the most successful era in their history spending eight consecutive seasons in the La Liga, Primera Liga between 1974 and 1982, which included a fifth placed finish during the 1974–75 season . Rico was also instrumental in helping Alacant become one of the cities of the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain, and the Estadio José Rico Pérez, stadium of the city is named as him. Estadio José Rico Pérez is a multi-purpose stadium in Alicante, Spain. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches, being home to Hércules CF. It also hosted World Cup matches when Spain organized the event in 1982 World Cup, 1982. With a capacity of 24,704 seats, it is the List of stadiums in Spain, 25th-largest stadium in Spain and the 4th-largest in the Valencian Community. It was built in 1974, and is situated 2 miles outside Alicante city centre. The stadium is named after the former chairman of Hércules CF, José Rico Pérez (1918–2010).
