José Miguel Miyar Barruecos
Dr. José Miguel Miyar Barruecos (born 3 August 1932, in Siboney) is a Cuban politician and the Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment from 2009 to March 2012. Biography Dr. Miyar was a member in the Cuban Revolutionary Forces. He is a medical doctor. He was the Director of the Cuban Rural Medical Service. He was Secretary to the Council of State from 1980 to 2009. Dr. Miyar was a Deputy in the National Assembly of Popular Power and a Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba until 2013. Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya (born November 20, 1960) is a Cuban politician and academic. She served as Cuba's Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment for 11 years until being replaced by Eduardo Martínez in February 2024. Life Pérez Montoya was born in 1960. She began her career in academia, working as a professor, senior professor, vice dean of research and eventually head of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Oriente in Santiago. She also held the role of professional secretary general of the University Party Committee. Pérez Montoya is a member of the Communist Party of Cuba and served as a representative in the National Assembly for Granma Province. Communist Party Of Cuba
The Communist Party of Cuba (, PCC) is the sole ruling party of Cuba. It was founded on 3 October 1965 as the successor to the United Party of the Cuban Socialist Revolution, which was in turn made up of the 26th of July Movement and Popular Socialist Party that seized power in Cuba after the 1959 Cuban Revolution. The party governs Cuba as an authoritarian one-party state where dissidence and political opposition are prohibited and repressed. The Cuban constitution ascribes the role of the party to be the " leading force of society and of the state." The highest body within the PCC is the Party Congress, which convenes every five years. Siboney, Cuba
Siboney is a Cuban village and ''Consejo popular (Cuba), consejo popular'' (i.e.: people's council) located in the east of the city of Santiago de Cuba and belonging to its municipality. Geography The village lies by the Caribbean Sea, near the road linking Santiago to Baconao, through the eastern coastal area of Santiago municipality. ''Granma'' is the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba. It was formed in 1965 by the merger of two previous papers, (from Spanish: "Revolution") and ("Today"). The Council of State () of Cuba is a 31-member body of the government of Cuba, elected by the National Assembly of People's Power.
