José Manuel Malhão Pereira
Capt. José Manuel Malhão Pereira, ComSE, born on 12 November 1940 in Loures (Lisbon), is a retired officer ( Captain of Sea and War) of the Portuguese Navy, and a worldwide known scholar of nautical sciences. On 10 June 2013 he was awarded the Military Order of Saint James of the Sword. He is a member of the Centro Interuniversitário de História das Ciências e da Tecnologia (), at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon; and also an advisor to the ERC RUTTER Project. Malhão Pereira was for a long time a professor at the Navy School, and from 1989 to 1993, Commander of the Sagres, school ship of the Portuguese Navy. In addition to the Academia de Marinha, the Lisbon Geographic Society and other learned societies in Portugal, Capt. The Military Order of Saint James of the Sword (), formerly known as the Ancient, Most Noble and Enlightened Military Order of Saint James of the Sword, of the Scientific, Literary and Artistic Merit (), is one of the four former ancient Portugal, Portuguese Military order (religious society), military orders. Kannur University is a multi-campus public university established in 1996 to provide development of higher education in Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad districts of Kerala, India. It serves the region of North Malabar. It was established after the passing of Act No. 22 of 1996 of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Mossel Bay () is a harbour town of about 170,000 people on the Garden Route of South Africa. It is an important tourism and farming region of the Western Cape Province. Mossel Bay lies 400 kilometres east of the country's seat of parliament, Cape Town (which is also the capital city of the Western Cape), and 400 km west of Gqeberha, the largest city in the Eastern Cape.
