José Manuel Cano
José Manuel Cano (born 15 July 1965) is an Argentine dentist and politician of the Radical Civic Union (UCR). He was a National Deputy from 2013 to 2015, and later from 2017 to 2021. He also served as a National Senator for his home province of Tucumán from 2009 to 2013. Cano has also served as secretary general of the UCR National Committee and as a member of the Tucumán provincial legislature. Early and personal life Cano was born on 15 July 1965 in San Miguel de Tucumán. He studied dentistry at the National University of Tucumán (UNT), graduating in 1991. While studying at UNT, Cano was active in student politics and was president of the Faculty of Dentistry student union. He is married to Ruth Adriana Mira and has three children. The Chamber of Deputies (), officially the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation, is the lower house of the Argentine National Congress (). It is made up of 257 national deputies who are elected in multi-member constituencies corresponding with the territories of the 23 provinces of Argentina (plus the Federal Capital) by party list proportional representation. Elections to the Chamber are held every two years, so that half of its members are up in each election, making it a rare example of staggered elections used in a lower house. 2013 Argentine Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Argentina on 27 October 2013. Open primary elections (PASO) were previously held on 11 August 2013 to determine eligible party lists for the general election. As in 2011 – when such primaries were held for the first time – each party list had to reach a 1.5% threshold at the provincial level in order to proceed to the 27 October polls. The elections renewed half of the members of the Chamber of Deputies for the period 2013–2017 and a third of the members of the Senate for the period 2013–2019. (JxC, ) was a political coalition in Argentina. A liberal coalition, it was created in 2015 as Cambiemos (), and renamed in 2019. It was composed of Republican Proposal, Radical Civic Union, Civic Coalition ARI and United Republicans. These three parties respectively nominated Mauricio Macri, Ernesto Sanz, and Elisa Carrió as their representatives in the August 2015 primary elections, which were held to choose which candidate would run in the 2015 presidential election on 25 October.
