José Mamede
José Mamede Aleixo Ferreira (born 24 February 1974), known as Mamede, is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a midfielder. During his professional career he played mainly in Italy (nine years), but almost never in Serie A – only 50 games over the course of four seasons. Club career Born in Torrão, Alcácer do Sal, Mamede started playing professionally with Vitória Futebol Clube, remaining with the Setúbal side for seven seasons – one loan notwithstanding – five spent in the Primeira Liga. In 2000–01 he moved abroad, joining Serie A's Reggina Calcio and scoring once in a campaign which ended in relegation, although he stayed with the club and helped it return to the top division the immediate year after. In 2003–04, Mamede joined FC Messina Peloro and proved decisive in the team's promotion to the top flight. The 2000–01 Serie A (known as the Serie A TIM for sponsorship reasons) was the 99th season of top-tier Italian football, the 69th in a round-robin tournament. It was contested by 18 teams, for the 13th consecutive season since 1988–89. Roma won its first ''Scudetto'' since 1982–83, its third title overall. Tiago Filipe Prazeres Ferreira (born 18 March 2002), sometimes known as Tiago Mamede, is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a winger for Primeira Liga club Estrela da Amadora. Club career Born and raised in Italy, Ferreira moved to Portugal and joined the Sporting CP youth academy in 2010. He signed his first professional contract with Sporting in 2019, and on 17 December 2020 extended it until 2025. The 2004–05 Serie A (known as the Serie A TIM for sponsorship reasons) was the 103rd season of top-tier Italian football, the 73rd in a round-robin tournament. It was expanded to contain 20 clubs, which played 38 matches against each other, rather than the 34 matches in previous seasons, while relegations were reduced to three. The Coppa Campioni d'Italia was presented to the winners on the pitch for the first time. The first two teams qualified directly to UEFA Champions League, teams ending in the third and fourth places had to play Champions League qualifications, teams ending in the fifth and sixth places qualified to UEFA Cup (another spot was given to the winner of Coppa Italia), while only the last three teams were to be relegated in Serie B, the Italian second division, following a regulations change.
