José Guerrero (tennis)
José Guerrero is a Spanish former professional tennis player. In the 1968 Real Madrid International, he defeated Mike Sangster in straight sets in the third round, losing to Juan Couder in the fourth round. At the 1969 Macomber Cup, he defeated Patrick Proisy, a later finalist at the French Open, in the quarterfinal in a close match, losing the semifinal to Karl Meiler. At the Manly Seaside Championships in 1969 he defeated Colin Dibley in the second round in a close match. In 1970 he defeated Juan Couder in five sets in the second round at the Barcelona Open Conde de Godo tournament, but lost in the next round to Manuel Santana. Guerrero featured in the main draw of the 1971 French Open, where he was beaten in the second round by sixth seed Stan Smith. The Madrid Tennis Grand Prix is a defunct professional men's tennis tournament that was played on outdoor clay courts in Madrid, Spain with the exception of the 1984 edition which was played on indoor carpet courts. It was part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit initially and later, the ATP World Series of the ATP Tour. The tournament was established in 1973, and was played every year until 1994. Ilie Theodoriu Năstase (; born 19 July 1946) is a Romanian former professional tennis player. He was ranked as the inaugural world No. 1 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for 40 weeks. Năstase is one of ten players to have won over 100 total ATP-level titles, with 64 in singles and 45 in doubles, among which seven majors: two in singles, three in men's doubles and two in mixed doubles. He also won four Masters Grand Prix year-end championships. He was the first professional sports figure to sign an endorsement contract with Nike, doing so in 1972. Năstase also wrote several novels in French in the 1980s, and was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1991. Stanley Roger Smith (born December 14, 1946) is an American former professional tennis player. A world No. 1 player and two-time major singles champion (at the 1971 US Open and 1972 Wimbledon Championships), Smith also paired with Bob Lutz to create one of the most successful doubles teams of all-time.
