José De Guzmán Benítez
José de Guzmán Benítez (1857 – 28 October 1923) was Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, from 28 February 1901 until 1902. José de Guzmán Benítez is best known for his 1899 campaign initiative, presented to the people of Puerto Rico, asking for the creation of a pro-American political party. Early years Guzmán Benítez was born in 1857 to Manuel De Guzman and Modesta Benitez. He married Carmen Soto Rodriguez, from Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, with whom he had a son named Jose Ignacio (1884–1941). Mayoral term Guzmán Benítez, along with his chief of police Rodulfo Figueroa were regarded by the Federal Party (Puerto Rico), Federal Party as "highly controversial" figures due to their association with members of Ponce's lower class. Pedro Juan Rosaly
Pedro Juan Rosaly Capó (21 April 1862 – 8 March 1912) was Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico from 23 December 1900 until 28 February 1901. Political career After the elections of 6 November 1900, Rosaly was elected to the Puerto Rico House of Representatives as a representative by the District of Ponce. Asystole (New Latin, from Greek privative a "not, without" + ''systolē'' "contraction") is the absence of ventricular contractions in the context of a lethal heart arrhythmia (in contrast to an induced asystole on a cooled patient on a heart-lung machine and general anesthesia during surgery necessitating stopping the heart). Enrique Chevalier
Enrique Chevalier Chardón (c. 1856 – 19 July 1931) was the Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1902. Background Chevalier Chardón was born in Ponce around 1856. His parents were Juan Felix Chevalier and Ramona A. Chardón. He married Antonia Valdivieso Ortiz with whom Chevalier Chardón had a daughter named Antonia. He died in Ponce on 19 July 1931. A member of the Partido Republicano Puertorriqueño, Chevalier had also been a member of the Ponce municipal assembly before becoming mayor. Mayoral term In 1902, the Puerto Rico Legislature approved a law that annexed the municipality of Guayanilla to the municipality of Ponce. As such, during his one year as mayor of Ponce, Mayor Chevalier was effectively the mayor of both Ponce and Guayanilla. The law was repealed in 1905.
