José Antonio Montero
José Antonio Montero Botanch (born January 3, 1965, in Barcelona, Spain) is a retired Spanish professional basketball player. Professional career Montero was selected 113th overall, by the Atlanta Hawks, at the 1987 NBA draft. He was the second Spanish player to be drafted by an National Basketball Association, NBA franchise, after Fernando Martín Espina, Fernando Martín. However, he never played in the NBA. As a member of FC Barcelona Bàsquet, FC Barcelona, he competed in two EuroLeague Finals, in 1991 EuroLeague Final Four, 1991, and 1996 EuroLeague Final Four, 1996. He was a FIBA European Selection in 1990. In 1991, he was selected to the EuroLeague All-Final Four Team. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Generally, point guards are expected to be proficient in passing the ball and being able to get Assist (basketball), assists to teammates. The EuroLeague is a European men's professional basketball club competition. The league is widely recognised as the top-tier and the most prestigious men's basketball league in Europe. The league consists of 20 teams, of which 16 are given long-term licences and wild cards, making the league a semi-closed league. The league was first organized by FIBA in 1958, subsequently by ULEB in 2000 and then solely by Euroleague Basketball.
