Josh Lafazan
Joshua Alexander Lafazan (born January 29, 1994) is an American politician and a former member of the Nassau County Legislature from the 18th district. When elected to the Syosset School Board in 2012, he was the youngest elected official in New York State. He was a candidate to become the Democratic nominee for New York's 3rd congressional district in the 2022 United States House of Representatives election. Education Lafazan attended Nassau Community College and received the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. Lafazan attended Cornell University for his Bachelor of Science degree and Harvard University for his Master of Education degree. He is pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Nassau County Legislature
The Nassau County Legislature is the lawmaking body of Nassau County, New York. The county is divided into 19 legislative districts, each represented by an elected legislator. It was formed in 1996 to succeed the Nassau County Board of Supervisors, which had been ruled unconstitutional. The legislature serves as a check against the county executive. The legislature monitors the performance of county agencies and makes land use decisions as well as legislating on a variety of other issues. The county legislature also has sole responsibility for approving the county budget. All members can serve for as long as they want (there is no term limit), unless expelled. Protect Our Future (POF) is a Democratic political action committee (PAC) started in 2022. It was funded primarily by Sam Bankman-Fried. Funding In 2022 Bankman-Fried provided initial financial support for Protect Our Future PAC.
