Jos J.L. Gommans
Jos is a city in the North-Central region of Nigeria. The city has a population of about 900,000 residents based on the 2006 census. Popularly called "J-Town", it is the administrative capital and largest city of Plateau State. The city is situated on the Jos plateau which lies within the Guinean forest–savanna mosaic, Guinea Savannah of North-Central Nigeria. It connects most of the North-Eastern capitals to the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, by road. Driving in and out of Jos, traffic encounters very steep and windy bends and mountainous sceneries typical of the plateau, from which the state derives its name. During the period of Colonial Nigeria, British colonial rule, Jos became an important centre for Tin, tin mining after large deposits of cassiterite, the main ore for the metal, were discovered. Idoma People
The Idomas are a people that primarily inhabit the lower western areas of Benue State, Nigeria, and some of them can be found in Taraba State, Cross River State, Enugu State, Kogi State and Nasarawa State in Nigeria. The Idoma language is classified in the Akweya subgroup of the Idomoid languages of the Volta–Niger family, which include Igede, Alago, Agatu, Etulo, Ete, Akweya (Akpa) and Yala languages of Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Enugu, and Northern Cross River states. The Akweya subgroup is closely related to the Yatye-Akpa subgroup. The bulk of the territory is inland, south of river Benue, some seventy-two kilometres east of its confluence with River Niger. The Idoma tribe are known to be 'warriors' and 'hunters' of class, but hospitable and peaceloving. Jukun People (West Africa)
Jukun (''Njikum;'' ; Kanuri language, Kanuri: ''Gwana, Kwana'') are an ethno-linguistic group or ethnic nation in West Africa. The Jukun are traditionally located in Taraba State, Taraba, Benue State, Benue, Nasarawa State, Nasarawa, Plateau State, Plateau, Adamawa State, Adamawa, Bauchi State, Bauchi and Gombe State, Gombe States in Nigeria and parts of northwestern Cameroon. Tiv People
Tiv (or Tiiv) are a Bantu ethnic group. They constitute approximately 2.4% of Nigeria's total population, and number over 5 million individuals throughout Nigeria and Cameroon. The Tiv language is spoken by over 5 million people in Nigeria, with a few speakers in Cameroon.
