Jorge Alfredo Vásquez (born 23 April 1945) is a retired football player from El Salvador who represented his country at the 1968 Summer Olympics and at the 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. ANTEL (El Salvador Football Club)
Administración Nacional de Telecomunicaciones, also known as ANTEL, was a Salvadoran professional football club perhaps best known for being the first club where the famous El Salvadoran Mágico González played. History The team played in the Primera División de Fútbol de El Salvador for two seasons from 1975 to 1977. After finishing in mid-table after the 1977 season, ANTEL decided to selling their place in the first division to Independiente de San Vicente, effectively ending the club's history as a professional entity. They then slowly went into decline and were renamed ''ANTEL-Telecom'' then again renamed ''Telecom FC''. The El Salvador national football team (), known as ("the National Team"), represents El Salvador in international football, and is governed by the Federación Salvadoreña de Fútbol (). The national team's first match was played in September 1921, when they were invited to participate in a tournament to celebrate 100 years of Central American Independence. The 1968 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XIX Olympiad () and officially branded as Mexico 1968 (), were an international multi-sport event held from 12 to 27 October 1968, in Mexico City, Mexico. These were the first Olympic Games to be staged in Latin America, the first to be staged in a Hispanophone, Spanish-speaking country, and the first to be staged in the Global South. The FIFA World Cup qualification is a set of competitive matches that a national association football team plays in order to qualify for one of the available berths at the final tournament of the men's FIFA World Cup.
