Jorge Andrade
Jorge Manuel Almeida Gomes de Andrade (; born 9 April 1978) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. After playing two years with Porto, he went on to represent Deportivo de La Coruña (169 official appearances in five seasons) and Juventus, appearing rarely for the latter club due to injury. Andrade earned more than 50 caps for Portugal, representing the country at the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004 and helping it finish second in the latter tournament. Club career Early career Andrade was born in Lisbon. He made his professional debut with his hometown club Estrela da Amadora in 1997, helping it to two consecutive eighth Primeira Liga places as well as participation in the 1998 UEFA Intertoto Cup. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football.
