Ellen McLain (born 1952 or 1953) is an American voice actress. She is best known for providing the voice of GLaDOS, the primary antagonist of the '' Portal'' video game series, the Combine Overwatch AI in '' Half-Life 2'', and the Administrator, the announcer in '' Team Fortress 2''. Her voice roles also include the Jaeger A.I. in '' Pacific Rim'' and The Witch in '' Left 4 Dead 2''. Career McLain provides voices for many characters in several video games from Valve. "Still Alive" is the song featured in the closing credits of the 2007 video game '' Portal''. It was composed and arranged by Jonathan Coulton and was performed by Ellen McLain, who voiced the ''Portal'' antagonist and in-game singer of the song, GLaDOS. Two Valve developers commissioned a song by Coulton, a fan of Valve's ''Half-Life'' series, which is set in the same universe as ''Portal''. The song was released on ''The Orange Box'' Soundtrack on December 21, 2007, along with an exclusive vocal mix not heard in the game. The song plays after GLaDOS is defeated by protagonist Chell. ''Thing a Week'' (sometimes as ''Thing-a-Week'') is a series of studio albums released by rock musician Jonathan Coulton in 2006. He compiled these albums from his weekly podcast, where he challenged himself to write, record, and produce a new song within a week, every week, for an entire year. He had done this to prove to himself, and to fans, that he was capable of working with a deadline. ''Thing a Week One'' ''Thing a Week One'' is the first album of the series, and Jonathan Coulton's fourth studio album. It contains some of Coulton's earliest hit songs, including "Shop Vac" and a cover of Sir Mix-a-Lot's " Baby Got Back." Blurt is an English post-punk band, founded in 1979 in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Background Blurt was founded in 1979 in Stroud, Gloucestershire by poet, saxophonist and puppeteer Ted Milton along with Milton's brother Jake, formerly of psychedelic group Quintessence, on drums and Peter Creese on guitar. After three albums Creese left the band to be replaced by Herman Martin on synthesizers who, after a year of constant touring, left the band and was replaced by Steve Eagles, former member of Satan's Rats, The Photos and Bang Bang Machine. Shortly thereafter Jake Milton left to be replaced by Nic Murcott, who was subsequently replaced by Paul Wigens. Eagles was replaced by Chris Vine as guitarist from 1990 to 1994 and returned to the band following Vine's departure. Wigens was briefly replaced by Charles Hayward between May and October 2001 before returning to the band, before departing the band for good in 2005.
