John Weston (businessman)
John Pix Weston CBE FREng is a British businessman. Weston was employed by BAE Systems and its predecessors from when he left university until he was ousted as CEO in 2002. In 2004 the ''Financial Times'' described Weston as one of a "core group" who turned British Aerospace (a predecessor of BAE Systems) around, along with Evans, Richard Lapthorne and his successor Mike Turner. Weston was one of the members of the British party who travelled to Bermuda to sign the Al Yamamah contract with Saudi Arabia. By 2006 this had yielded over £40 billion to British Aerospace and BAE Systems. He joined the British Aircraft Corporation at Weybridge in January 1970, as an undergraduate apprentice. Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding valuable service in a wide range of useful activities. It comprises five classes of awards across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a Orders, decorations, and medals of the United Kingdom#Modern honours, knight if male or a dame (title), dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with the order, but are not members of it. The Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) is the United Kingdom's national academy of engineering. Al Yamamah
Al-Yamama () is a historical region in south-eastern Najd in modern-day Saudi Arabia. Only a handful of centralized states ever arose in the Yamama, but it figured prominently in early Islamic history, becoming a central theater in the Ridda wars immediately following Muhammad's death. Despite being incorporated into the Najd region, the term 'al-Yamama' remains in use as a traditional and historical term to reference or emphasize the region's ancient past. Michael Turner (businessman)
Michael John Turner CBE (born 5 August 1948) is the former chief executive officer (CEO) of the aerospace and defence company BAE Systems, former chairman of Babcock International and prior to the hostile takeover by Melrose was chairman of GKN plc. Early life He attended Didsbury Technical High School (became Wilbraham High School in 1965) on School Lane in Didsbury. He gained a BA from Manchester Polytechnic in 1970, whilst working for Hawker Siddeley Aviation which he joined in 1966. Career Turner replaced the previous CEO at BAE Systems plc, John Weston, in March 2002 who was dismissed. Turner has previously been a chief operating officer (COO) of the company, responsible for all of the company's business units.
