John Blennerhassett (landowner)
John Blennerhassett or Hasset (by 1521 – 1573), of Barsham by Beccles, Suffolk, was an English landowner and Member of Parliament. His cousins became substantial landowners in Ireland. He was the fourth son of Sir Thomas Blennerhassett of Frenze, near Diss, Norfolk and Margaret Braham. Originally from Cumberland, the Blennerhassetts had become substantial landowners in Suffolk and Norfolk, where John Blennerhassett held estates at Depwade and Long Stratton. His father was steward to Thomas Howard, 2nd Duke of Norfolk and John was to continue the family tradition of service to the family. He entered the Inner Temple in 1535 In the 1540s, following the death of his elder brothers without male heirs, he inherited his family's entailed estate. He continued his career as a lawyer, served as a legal adviser to Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk and was called to the bench in 1550. John Blennerhassett (judge)
Sir John Blennerhassett (c. 1560–1624) was an English-born judge and politician who became Chief Baron of the Irish Exchequer and sat in the Irish House of Commons as MP for Belfast.Ball, F. John Blennerhassett (died 4 December 1677) was an Anglo-Irish member of the Irish House of Commons. Blennerhassett was the son of Captain John Blennerhassett and Martha Lynn. He was probably born at Ballycarty Castle, County Kerry, where his family owned a large estate. He was the brother of Robert Blennerhassett. He served as High Sheriff of Kerry in 1658. John Blennerhassett (c. 1660 – 1709) was an Anglo-Irish politician who represented various constituencies in the Irish House of Commons. Blennerhassett was born on the family estate at Ballyseedy, County Kerry, the son of John Blennerhassett and Elisabeth Denny. He was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 1692, representing Tralee. He served as MP for Dingle between 1695 and 1699. John Blennerhassett (15 June 1715 – 1763) was an Anglo-Irish politician. John Blennerhassett (1769 – 6 July 1794) was an Anglo-Irish politician. Blennerhassett was the son of William Blennerhassett and Catherine Johnson, and the great-grandson of John Blennerhassett. He was educated at Trinity College Dublin, graduating with a master's in 1792. Between 1790 and his death in 1794 Blennerhassett sat in the Irish House of Commons as the Member of Parliament for County Kerry.
