Deel 1(Dutch) Johannes Enschedé (3) was a Haarlem newspaper editor and printer. Biography He was the great-grandson of the founder of the Joh. Enschedé company and the oldest son of Johannes Enschedé II. Like his father and grandfather before him, he was a member of the ''Dutch Society of Science'' and the ''Teylers Second Society''. He studied law in Leiden and returned to become partner in the Joh. Enschedé, family company at the young age of 20, where he became editor of the Opregte Haarlemsche Courant. On 25 March 1810, he married Catharina Hillegonda van Walré, (Haarlem, 16 August 1791 – Haarlem, 18 December 1845) the daughter of Jan van Walré and Maria Kops. Wybrand Hendricks
Wybrand Hendriks (June 24, 1744, Amsterdam – January 28, 1831, Haarlem) was a Dutch painter, primarily known for his portraits, and the concierge of the Teylers Museum. Biography Wybrand Hendriks was born in a sculptor family, as the son of the sculptor Hendrik Hendriksz (ca. 1704-1782) and his wife Aaltje Claasdr. Both of his brothers, Hendrik Hendriks jr., Hendrik jr. and Frans Hendriks, Frans, followed in the footsteps of their father, also becoming sculptors. His only sister, Cornelia, married the sculptor Rijk Rijke. Hofje Van Staats
The Hofje van Staats is a hofje in Haarlem, Netherlands, on the Jansweg 39, close to the Haarlem railway station. History of the complex It was built from July 29, 1730, to 1733 from the legacy of the Haarlem thread-seller Ysbrand Staats. He left his entire legacy to the poor, and his brother took charge of building this hofje after he died. The first hofje to be built in the 18th century, the executors visited Alkmaar under the leadership of architect Abraham Kleijn, to visit the "new style hofje" Wildemans. In former times hofjes were built in the back gardens of larger homes of the wealthy donors. In 1730 the new style hofjes were luxurious complexes with fancy gateway buildings directly on the street. The original gateway house of this hofje still stands, but no longer functions as the home of a governing regent, but as a storefront. Jan van Walré (1759, Haarlem – 1837, Haarlem), was a 19th-century bookseller, poet, and playwright from the Netherlands. Biography He was a Remonstrant married to a Mennonite and a bookseller who became a member of Teylers Eerste Genootschap from 1781–1782.
