Joe Tofflemire
Joseph Salvatore Tofflemire (July 7, 1965 – September 27, 2011) was an American professional football player who was a center for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Arizona Wildcats and was selected in the second round of the 1989 NFL draft. Early life Tofflemire was a 1984 graduate of Post Falls High School in northern Idaho, where he was a four-year letterman in both track and football, and was inducted into the inaugural PFHS Hall of Fame, along with his best friend Rollin Putzier, who also was a lineman in the NFL. Joe set school records in both the shot-put and discus medaling at the Idaho state championships as well as being part of the sprint relay teams. Center (American Football)
Center or centre (C) is a position in American football. The center is the innermost Lineman (American football), lineman of the offensive line on a football team's Offense (sports), offense who passes (or "Snap (gridiron football), snaps") the ball between his legs to the quarterback at the start of each Play from scrimmage, play. During the period of the one-platoon system, centers frequently played defensively as "middle guards", off the opposing center on the opposite side of the line as with a modern nose tackle. 1989 NFL Draft
The 1989 NFL draft (also known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting) was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. The draft was held April 23–24, 1989, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, New York. The league also held a supplemental draft after the regular draft and before the regular season. Four of the first five players selected in the draft – quarterback Troy Aikman, running back Barry Sanders, linebacker Derrick Thomas, and cornerback Deion Sanders – would be inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Kickoff (American Football)
A kickoff is a method of starting a drive in gridiron football. Additionally, it may refer to a kickoff time, the scheduled time of the first kickoff of a game. Typically, a kickoff consists of one team – the "kicking team" – kicking the ball to the opposing team – the "receiving team". The receiving team is then entitled to ''return'' the ball, i.e., attempt to advance it towards the kicking team's end zone, until the player with the ball is tackled by the kicking team, goes out of bounds, scores a touchdown, or the play is otherwise ruled dead. Bishop Kelly High School is a private Roman Catholic secondary school in Boise, Idaho, operated by the Diocese of Boise. In gridiron football, the placekicker (PK), or simply kicker (K), is the player responsible for attempts at scoring Field goal (football), field goals and extra points. Rollin Putzier
Rollin William Putzier (December 10, 1965 – April 25, 2018) was an American professional football player. He played defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL), and was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 1988 NFL draft. He was also a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers, winning Super Bowl XXIV with the 49ers, and played in the World League of American Football (WLAF) with the Montreal Machine and London Monarchs.
