Jockum Nordström
Jockum Nordström (born 1963) is a Swedish artist, best known for his vivid collages, but also for his drawings, paintings and work as an illustrator. Biography Jockum Nordström was born December 19, 1963, in Stockholm, Sweden in a family with two brothers and one sister. His father Gert Z Nordström was a professor of art education at Konstfack, University College of Art, Crafts and Design, the same school and department from where Jockum graduated in 1988. Nordström’s national popularity increased with the series of children’s books about the character ''Sailor'' and his dog ''Pekka'', and while working as an illustrator at the Stockholm newspaper ''Dagens Nyheter'' 1997-1999. Nordström has also designed record sleeves for the rock band Caesars. His first show in the United States was at Jack Hanley Gallery in San Francisco 1999. Roberta Smith
Roberta Smith (born 1948) is co-chief art critic of ''The New York Times'' and a lecturer on contemporary art. She is the first woman to hold that position at the Times. Education and early life Born in 1948 in New York City and raised in Lawrence, Kansas, Smith studied at Grinnell College in Iowa. Her career in the arts started in 1968, while an undergraduate summer intern at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. Career In 1968-1969, she participated in the Art History/Museum Studies track of the Whitney Independent Study Program (ISP) where she met and developed an affinity for Donald Judd and became interested in minimal art. Aaron Rose
Aaron Rose is an American film director, artist, exhibition curator and writer. Rose is known as the co-director of ''Beautiful Losers'', a film that focuses on an art movement which includes artists such as Barry McGee, Margaret Kilgallen, Steven "Espo" Powers, Chris Johanson, Harmony Korine and Shepard Fairey. Early life Rose grew up in Calabasas in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles and started attending punk and mod shows in the mid 1980s. The artwork of this scene inspired him to seek a career that facilitated creativity and artistic creation. From high school, he was accepted to Pasadena's Art Center College of Design, but dropped out after only one semester. Rose stated later "For me, art school seemed like a death sentence." Gothenburg Museum of Art () is located at Götaplatsen in Gothenburg, Sweden. It claims to be the third-largest art museum in Sweden by the size of its collection.
