Joaquín Blanco Roca
Joaquín Blanco Roca (born 22 November 1957) is a Spanish Olympic sailor in the Finn class. He competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics, where he finished 4th in Finn. He is the father of Olympic sailor Joaquín Blanco Albalat. Career Blanco, born 1957 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, sailed in the Finn class. He won the 1977 Finn Gold Cup competition, but was not awarded the trophy because the International Finn Association withdrew the championship status when Spain refused to accept entries of two South African sailors, however, in 2017, the International Finn Association acknowledged him as winner of the Finn Gold Cup. Finn (dinghy)
The Finn dinghy is a single-handed, cat-rigged sailboat, and a former Olympic class for men's sailing. Since its debut at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, the Finn featured in every summer Olympics until 2020, making it the longest serving dinghy in the Olympic Regatta and one of the most prolific Olympic sailboats,. The Finn is a physically demanding boat to race at the highest levels, especially since the class rules now allow unlimited boat rocking and sail pumping when the wind is above 10 knots. The event did not feature on the Olympic programme from 2024. Russell Coutts
Sir Russell Coutts (born 1 March 1962) is a world champion New Zealand yachtsman. He won an Olympic gold medal and skippered three Americas Cup victories in 1995, 2000, and 2003. Early life Coutts was educated at Otago Boys' High School (1975–1979) and is a Life Member of Paremata Boating Club, where he learned to sail in a P class, and the Ravensbourne Boating Club. At the age of 17, he became national champion of New Zealand in the Laser class. Career Coutts' achievements include a gold medal in the Finn class in the 1984 Olympic Games, winning the America's Cup five times, the ISAF World Youth championships, three World Match Racing Championships, numerous international match race wins and IOR, IMS and One Design World Championship victories. John Joseph Bertrand (born March 25, 1956, in San Mateo, California) is an American former competitive sailor and Olympic silver medalist. Career Bertrand sailed with John Kolius on board '' Courageous'' in the 1983 America's Cup defender's trials. At the 1984 Summer Olympics, Bertrand finished in second place in the Finn class.
