Joaquín Barañao
Joaquín Barañao Díaz (Santiago, Chile, January 6, 1982) is a Chilean writer and podcaster, who specialized in books and podcasts about history. Specifically on freak fun facts about different topics. Biography Barañao attended to Colegio San Ignacio El Bosque (1987–1999) and then civil engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2000-2006), where he got a degree in hydraulic engineering. Career His first job was as an advisor to Andrés Allamand, then senator of the XVI district (2006–2010). Then worked in the government of Sebastián Piñera, first in the President's cabinet and later in the cabinet of the undersecretary of the interior, Rodrigo Ubilla, coordinating the reform of the migratory legislation (2011–2014). He has provided advice on matters related to the Chile/Argentina 2030 Strategic Forum project. The Santiago International Book Fair (''Spanish: Feria Internacional del Libro de Santiago, FILSA'') is an annual book fair held in Santiago, Chile, during October–December. It is organised by the Chilean Chamber for Books (''Cámara Chilena del Libro''). History The Santiago Book Fair was created in 1981 as a national event, an initiative of then mayor of Santiago, Carlos Bombal. It was originally held in Parque Forestal, behind the Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts, National Museum of Fine Arts; from 1989 it has been held in the Estación Mapocho, Estación Mapocho Cultural Center. In 1990 the event was expanded to become an international book fair and in 2011, for the first time, it featured a section dedicated to electronic books. That year, a total of 260,000 people visited the book fair, with more than 500 cultural activities, 400 writers and more than 700 publishers represented in more than 10,000 metres squared of exhibits.
