Jirón Rufino Torrico
Jirón Rufino Torrico, formerly known as Jirón Arica, is a major street in the Damero de Pizarro, located in the historic centre of Lima, Peru. The street starts before its intersection with the Jirón Conde de Superunda, parallel to the '' Prolongación Tacna'', and continues until it reaches Inca Garcilaso de la Vega Avenue. History The road that today constitutes the street was laid by Francisco Pizarro when he founded the city of Lima on 18 January 1535. In 1862, when a new urban nomenclature was adopted, the road was named jirón Arica, after the province in Tacna. Damero De Pizarro
The Cercado de Lima ('Walled Lima'), Damero de Pizarro ('Pizarro's Checkerboard'), or Lima Cuadrada ('Squared Lima') is an area of the Historic Centre of Lima, historic center of Lima (capital of Peru) located within the Walls of Lima, old walls of the city. Location and history The area of the Cercado de Lima corresponds to the original layout of the city. Its current boundaries within the city are the Rímac River to the north, Avenida Abancay, Abancay Avenue to the east, Avenida Nicolás de Piérola, Colmena Avenue to the south and Avenida Tacna, Tacna Avenue to the west. Plaza Francia, Lima
The Plaza de Francia, also known by its former name, Plazoleta de la Recoleta, is a public square in the historic centre of Lima, Peru. History The square, originally named after the monastery of the Dominican Order built there in 1606, was the site of a pre-Hispanic trail that continued the path of the ''Camino de los Llanos'' (later known as the '' Vía Expresa''). In addition to its current church, it also housed another chapel, known as the ''Capilla de la Virgen de la Leche''. After independence, the Convent of the Venturous Mary Magdalene () became administered by the Charity of Lima. In 1848, nuns from the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary arrived to Peru and established themselves on the convent. Pedro Pablo Kuczynski Godard (; born 3 October 1938), also known simply as PPK (), is a Peruvian economist, public administrator, and former politician who served as the 59th President of Peru from 2016 to 2018. He served as Prime Minister of Peru and as Minister of Economy and Finance during the presidency of Alejandro Toledo. Dos de Mayo National Hospital () is a public hospital in the neighbourhood of Barrios Altos, part of the historic centre of Lima, Peru. It is considered the first hospital of the republican history of the country, and was preceded by the Royal Hospital of Saint Andrew, itself the oldest hospital of the Viceroyalty of Peru. History The hospital dates back to the creation of the Hospital of Our Lady of the Conception () in 1538, located at the Jirón Lima, next to the current Convent of Santo Domingo. Jirón Callao is a major street in the Damero de Pizarro, located in the historic centre of Lima, Peru. The street starts at its intersection with the Jirón Sancho de Rivera and continues until it reaches the Jirón de la Unión, next to the Plaza de Armas. History The road that today constitutes the street was laid by Francisco Pizarro when he founded the city of Lima on January 18, 1535. Until the 16th century, this road only had six blocks, the last two being formed at the beginning of the 17th century. This street had the particularity of being the gateway of the viceroys to the city. Thus, on the occasion of the entry of a new viceroy to the city, a welcoming ceremony was held in the last block of this road (current sixth block). Emilio Lissón
Emilio Juan Francisco Lissón y Chávez, Congregation of the Mission, C.M. (24 May 1872 – 25 December 1961), was an Archbishop of Lima, Peru. Early years Lissón was born in the city of Arequipa to a strongly Catholic family. He entered the Congregation of the Mission, commonly referred to as the Vincentian Fathers, in 1891. He was sent to France to pursue his theological studies and was ordained as a Catholic priest in Paris on 8 June 1895 by Archbishop Hilarion Joseph Montéty Pailhas, C.M. Episcopacy In April 1909, Lissón was appointed by Pope Pius X as the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chachapoyas, Bishop of Chachapoyas.
