Jindra Kramperová
Jindra "Jindřiška" Kramperová (28 September 1940 – 20 October 2024) was a Czech figure skater and pianist. A three-time national champion in ladies' singles, she represented Czechoslovakia at the 1956 Winter Olympics and placed as high as fifth at the European Championships (1958). Background Kramperová was born on 28 September 1940 in Prague. Her mother was a teacher and her father a dentist. She was married to a conductor, Vít Micka. Kramperová died on 20 October 2024, at the age of 84. Career Figure skating Kramperová's father introduced her to skating when she was six years old. He hoped that a physical activity and fresh air would improve her poor health so he brought her to an outdoor ice rink in Štvanice – Prague's only rink at the time. European Figure Skating Championships
The European Figure Skating Championships are an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU). Medals are awarded in single skating, men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The event is the sport's oldest competition. The first European Championships were held in 1891 in Hamburg, Germany, and featured one segment – compulsory figures – with seven competitors. They have been held since 1891 with only five interruptions. Women were allowed to compete for the first time in 1930, which was also when pair skating was added to the competition. Ice dance was added in 1954. The World Figure Skating Championships are an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU). The first World Championships were held in 1896 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and they have been held ever since with only four interruptions. A separate competition for women was established in 1905, with the men's and women's events held as separate competitions for several years. Pair skating was added in 1908 and ice dance in 1952. Skaters are eligible to compete at the World Championships, provided they represent a member nation of the International Skating Union and are selected by their respective federation.
