Jimmy R. Newton, Jr. (1978 – March 31, 2014) was the tribal chairman of the Southern Ute Indian Reservation of Colorado. The Southern Ute Indian Reservation ( Ute dialect: Kapuuta-wa Moghwachi Núuchi-u) is a Native American reservation in southwestern Colorado near the northern New Mexico state line. Its territory consists of land from three counties; in descending order of surface area they are La Plata, Archuleta, and Montezuma Counties. The reservation has a land area of 1,058.785 sq mi (2,742.24 km²). Its largest communities are Ignacio and Arboles. The only other community that is recognized as a separate place by the Census Bureau is the CDP of Southern Ute, which lies just southeast of Ignacio. Collins College was a for-profit college with an emphasis in the fields of visual arts and design. Owned by Career Education Corporation, Collins College had two campuses. The main campus was located in Tempe, before moving to southeast Phoenix in 2009. A smaller branch campus was located in west Phoenix from 2003 until circa 2012. The school announced in December 2012 that it was shutting down and began a teach-out policy for existing students.
