Jim Capaldi
Nicola James Capaldi (2 August 1944 – 28 January 2005) was an English singer-songwriter and drummer. His musical career spanned more than four decades. He co-founded the progressive rock band Traffic in 1967 with Steve Winwood with whom he co-wrote the majority of the band's material. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a part of Traffic's original lineup. Capaldi also performed with Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Alvin Lee, Cat Stevens, and Mylon LeFevre, and wrote lyrics for other artists, such as " Love Will Keep Us Alive" and "This is Reggae Music". As a solo artist he scored more than a half dozen chart hits in various countries, the best-known being " That's Love" as well as his cover of " Love Hurts". Traffic (band)
Traffic were an English rock music, rock band formed in Birmingham in April 1967 by Jim Capaldi, Steve Winwood, Chris Wood (rock musician), Chris Wood and Dave Mason.[ Traffic Biography.] AllMusic. Yusuf Islam (born Steven Demetre Georgiou; ), commonly known by his stage names Cat Stevens, Yusuf, and Yusuf / Cat Stevens, is a British singer-songwriter and musician. Dave Berry (born David Holgate Grundy, 6 February 1941) is an English rock singer and former teen idol during the 1960s. His best-remembered hits are "Memphis, Tennessee", " The Crying Game" (1964) and his 1965 hit " Little Things", a cover version of Bobby Goldsboro's Stateside Records top 40 success. Terence Nelhams Wright (23 June 1940 – 8 March 2003), known as Adam Faith, was an English singer, actor, and financial journalist. As a British rock and roll teen idol, he scored consecutive No. 1 hits on the UK singles chart with " What Do You Want?" (1959) and " Poor Me" (1960). He became the first UK artist to lodge his initial seven hits in the top 5, and was ultimately one of the most charted acts of the 1960s. The Spencer Davis Group
The Spencer Davis Group were a British blues and R&B influenced rock band formed in Birmingham in 1963 by Spencer Davis (guitar), brothers Steve Winwood (vocals, keyboards, and guitar) and Muff Winwood (bass guitar), and Pete York (drums). Their best known songs include the UK No. 1 hits " Keep On Running" and " Somebody Help Me" and the UK and US Top 10 hits " Gimme Some Lovin'" and " I'm a Man". The Winwood brothers both left in 1967, with Steve going on to form the rock band Traffic, and Muff moving into music A&R and production. Star-Club
The Star-Club was a music club in Hamburg, Germany, that opened on Friday 13 April 1962, and was initially operated by Manfred Weissleder and Horst Fascher. In the 1960s, many of the giants of rock music played at the club. The club closed on 31 December 1969 and the building it occupied was destroyed by a fire in 1987. The address of the club was ''Große Freiheit 39'' in the St. Pauli quarter of Hamburg. ''Große Freiheit'' is a side street of the Reeperbahn. The club had a capacity of 2,000 people, and cinema-style seating. The club achieved worldwide renown through the performances of the Beatles, who played three residencies there between April and December 1962. Plot A lone law enforcement officer, Sam Hargis, battles criminals in South Africa when the Billings family of Luke Billings and his four sons ride into town to get revenge on Hargis for a previous clash, when he ran Luke Billings out of town. David Thomas Mason (born 10 May 1946) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist from Worcester, who came to prominence in 1967 as a founding member of the rock band Traffic. While with Traffic, he wrote and sang lead vocals on two of the band's most famous songs, " Hole in My Shoe" and " Feelin' Alright?". ''Fierce Heart'' is the eighth solo album by British musician Jim Capaldi. The album has a far more synthesizer, synth-heavy approach than any of his previous albums, though the songs are mostly in the same aggressive rock/pop vein that Capaldi had long been associated with. This synth-heavy pop sound was exactly what 1980s audiences were looking for, and the songs "That's Love (Jim Capaldi song), That's Love" which broke the top 40 in the US at number 28, and "Living on the Edge" at number 75, became hit singles. The album itself reached number 91 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200. "Love Hurts" is a song written and composed by the American songwriter Boudleaux Bryant. First recorded by the Everly Brothers in July 1960, the song is most well known in two hit versions by UK artists: by Scottish hard rock band Nazareth in 1974 and by English singer-songwriter Jim Capaldi in 1975.
