Ji Ungpakorn
Giles Ji Ungpakorn (; , ; born 25 October 1953) is a Thailand, Thai-United Kingdom, British academic, and Marxism, Marxist political activism, activist, who formerly worked as a teacher at Chulalongkorn University. He worked as an associate professor in the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University, before he fled to the United Kingdom in 2009 after facing a Lèse majesté in Thailand, lèse majesté charge in Thailand. Early life and education Giles Ji Ungpakorn is the youngest son of former Bank of Thailand governor and Thammasat University rector Puey Ungpakorn (; ) and his wife Margaret Smith of London. Puey Ungphakorn, Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, MBE (; ; International Phonetic Alphabet, IPA:; ; 9 March 1916 – 28 July 1999), was a Thai economist who served as Governor of the Bank of Thailand and Rector (academia), Rector of Thammasat University.
