Jeziorki, Warsaw
Jeziorki is an administrative neighbourhood in Warsaw, Poland, located within the district of Ursynów. It is encompassed within two areas of the City Information System: Jeziorki Północne (''North Jeziorki'') and Jeziorki Południowe (''South Jeziorki''), and is traditionally divided into two parts: Nowe Jeziorki (''New Jeziorki''), and Jeziorki Polskie (''Polish Jeziorki''). The neighbourhood is a residential area of low-rise single-family housing. The village of Jeziorki was founded in the 15th century, via separation from the village of Gramnica, which no longer exists. In 1951, it was incorporated into the city of Warsaw. Etymology The name ''Jeziorki'' refers to numerous lakes and ponds located within its boundaries, and can be loosely translated from Polish as the ''Little Lakes''. Warsaw is a city with powiat rights, and is further divided into 18 districts (''dzielnica'' ), auxiliary units which are legally integral parts of the city as an entity, but with some limited powers devolved to their own local governments (or ‘self-governments’ as they are typically referred to in Polish). The current division into quarters was established in 2002.
