Jevgēņijs Kosmačovs
Jevgēņijs Kosmačovs (born 18 February 1988) is a Latvian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Born in Tukums, Western Latvia, Kosmačovs began his career with hometown side FK Tukums 2000 in their youth team. In 2005, he made his debut for them playing in the Latvian First League. In 2006 Kosmačovs joined Latvian Higher League side FK Ventspils, making four appearances in the 2006 season, as they were crowned the champions. He made 14 appearances in 2007, scoring one goal as Ventspils were again the champions of Latvia. That year Kosmačovs also managed to win the Latvian Cup with the team. The 2008 season saw him make 16 appearances, scoring one goal, helping his team become the champions for 3 consecutive seasons. In the following season he already played 24 times, scoring one goal, as Ventspils finished as the runners-up to Liepājas Metalurgs. Tukums
Tukums (; ; ) is a town in Latvia and serves as the administrative center of Tukums Municipality. It is located in the eastern part of the historical region of Courland, and with more than 16,000 inhabitants Tukums is the 13th largest settlement in Latvia. The Latvian First League () is the second tier of football in Latvia and is organised by the Latvian Football Federation. Since 2021, its full name is Nākotnes Līga (''Future League''). The Sports club "Metalurh Zaporizhzhia" (, ) is a Ukrainian professional Association football, football club based in Zaporizhzhia. Blackpool is a seaside town in Lancashire, England. It is located on the Irish Sea coast of the Fylde peninsula, approximately north of Liverpool and west of Preston, Lancashire, Preston. Aleksandrs Solovjovs (born 25 February 1988) is a Latvian footballer, currently playing for RFS in the Latvian Higher League. Career As a youth player Solovjovs played for Skonto Riga, making his first first-team appearance in 2007. Despite being in the club's player list for the upcoming season, Solovjovs didn't even play a match for Skonto, as he was loaned out to Olimps for one season. He played 24 matches, netting 3 times. After the end of that season, in February 2008, it was announced that he was to undergo a trial with Zenit St. Petersburg reserves. FK Liepājas Metalurgs () was a Latvian football club in the city of Liepāja that played in the Virslīga. They played at the Daugava Stadium (capacity 5,083). In 2005 Liepājas Metalurgs became the first team other than Skonto Riga to win the Virslīga since the league restarted in 1991. 2009 Latvian Higher League
Latvian Higher League 2009 () was the 18th season of top-tier football in Latvia. It began on 14 March 2009 with the first round of games and ended on 8 November 2009 with the 36th round of matches. Ventspils were the defending champions. Due to numerous pre-season team changes, such as club mergers and withdrawals, the format of the league was changed. Since there are only 9 clubs that participate in 2009 Virslīga, every team plays 4 times against every other team, what will make every team playing 32 games. The 2008 Virslīga season was the 17th Virslīga season. It began on 5 April 2008 with the first round of games and ended on 9 November 2008 with the final matches of the championship and relegation rounds. Ventspils were the defending champions. Season details For the 2008 season the league has expanded to ten clubs, and the fixture format has changed. Due to expansion there was no relegation at the end of the 2007 season, and the top two clubs from the 1. līga 2007 season, champions FK Vindava (from Ventspils), and second placed SK Blāzma (from Rēzekne) were both promoted. The Latvian Football Cup () is the main knockout cup competition in Latvian football. Since 2021, its full name is Responsible Gaming Latvian Football Cup (''Atbildīgas spēles Latvijas kauss'') due to the sponsorship by sports betting company William Hill. The tournament was launched in 1937, replacing the previous knockout tournament – the Riga Football Cup. The competition is a knockout (single elimination) tournament. From 1937 to 2008 and again since 2017, all of the games of the tournament are played within the calendar year.
