Jeunesse Populaire Française (JPF, English: ''French Popular Youth'') was a fascist youth movement created by Jacques Doriot and connected to his Parti Populaire Français. They wore a blue uniform. They are remembered for their fights with zazous and Jews and shaving heads of zazous. Jacques Doriot
Jacques Doriot (; 26 September 1898 – 22 February 1945) was a French politician, initially communist, later fascist, before and during World War II. In 1936, after his exclusion from the French Communist Party, he founded the French Popular Party (PPF) and took over the newspaper ''La Liberté (French newspaper), La Liberté'', which took a stand against the Popular front, Popular Front. During the war, Doriot was a radical supporter of Collaboration with Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, collaboration and contributed to the creation of the Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism, Legion of French Volunteers against Bolshevism (LVF). He fought personally in German uniform on the Eastern Front, with the rank of lieutenant. Zazou
The zazous were a subculture in France during World War II. They were young people expressing their individuality by wearing big or garish clothing (similar to the zoot suit fashion in America a few years before) and dancing wildly to swing jazz. Men wore large striped lumber jackets, while women wore short skirts, striped stockings and heavy shoes, and often carried umbrellas. Origins of the movement During the German occupation of France, the Vichy regime, which collaborated with the Nazi occupiers, had an ultra-conservative morality and started to use a whole range of laws against a youth that was restless and disenchanted. These young people expressed their resistance and nonconformity through aggressive dance competitions, sometimes against soldiers from the occupying forces.
