Jessie Nelson (filmmaker)
Jessie Nelson is an American film producer, director, actress and writer. Career Nelson began her career acting with the theater group Mabou Mines at the Public Theater in New York and she went on to perform in Shakespeare In The Park. Nelson began her directing career with the award-winning short film ''To the Moon, Alice'' (1990), which she also wrote. The film starred Chris Cooper and was part of a television program for Showtime titled ''The Showtime 30-Minute Movie''. Her first feature film was '' Corrina, Corrina'' (1994) which she wrote, directed, and produced. It starred Whoopi Goldberg and Ray Liotta. The film was suggested by her life. She went on to write, direct, and produce '' I Am Sam'' (2001) starring Sean Penn. She received the first Stanley Kramer Award from the Producers Guild for ''I Am Sam'' in 2002. Alan Arkin
Alan Wolf Arkin (March 26, 1934 – June 29, 2023) was an American actor, filmmaker and musician. In a career spanning seven decades, he received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Tony Award as well as nominations for six Emmy Awards. Arkin performed in the sketch comedy group The Second City before acting on the Broadway stage, starring as David Kolowitz in the Joseph Stein play '' Enter Laughing'' in 1963, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He returned to Broadway acting in the comedic play '' Luv'' (1964), and directed Neil Simon's '' The Sunshine Boys'' (1971), for which he received a Tony Award nomination. The Tribeca Festival is an annual film festival organized by Tribeca Enterprises. It takes place each spring in New York City, showcasing a diverse selection of film, episodic, talks, music, games, art, and immersive programming. The festival was founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff in 2002 to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of Lower Manhattan following the September 11 attacks, September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center.
