Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Jesperi Kotkaniemi (; born 6 July 2000) is a Finns, Finnish professional ice hockey Centre (ice hockey), center for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected third overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. In October 2018, he became the first player born in the 2000s to play in one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada, when he appeared on the Canadiens opening night roster. Personal life Kotkaniemi was raised in Pori, the son of Mikael and Kati Kotkaniemi. Mikael, a former professional hockey player and current coach, and native of Helsinki, settled in Pori after meeting Kati, a Pori area native, while he was playing for HC Ässät Pori. Kotkaniemi has one brother, Kasperi Kotkaniemi, Kasperi, who is sixteen months his senior and plays as a goaltender. The Carolina Hurricanes (colloquially known as the Canes) are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. 2017–18 Liiga Season
The 2017–18 SM-liiga season was the 43rd season of the SM-liiga (branded simply as "Liiga"), the top level of ice hockey in Finland, since the league's formation in 1975. Tappara was the season as a defending champion. This season included a record number of matches played on Fridays and Saturdays. In autumn, there was a national team break from 5 November until 13 November. The specialties of the season included, for the first time in SM-liiga history, double games between KooKoo and Vaasan Sport. Mario Tremblay
Joseph Daniel Mario Tremblay (born September 2, 1956) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and coach in the National Hockey League (NHL). As a player, he was a five-time Stanley Cup winner with the Montreal Canadiens. He was honoured by his hometown of Alma, which named its local arena "Le Centre Mario-Tremblay". Since 1981, Tremblay has owned the sports bar in his hometown called "Bar-Restaurant chez Mario Tremblay". Assist (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the Puck (sports)#In ice hockey, puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the Goal (ice hockey), goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. There can be a maximum of two assists per goal. The assists will be awarded in the order of play, with the last player to pass the puck to the goal scorer getting the primary assist and the player who passed it to the primary assister getting the secondary assist. HC TPS
TPS or Turun Palloseura is an ice hockey team and 10-time champion of SM-liiga and 1-time champion of SM-sarja. They play in Turku, Finland, at Gatorade Center. In terms of championships, TPS is the second all-time most successful team in SM-Liiga, right behind Tappara. Team history TPS was established in 1922 as Turun Palloseura, from which the acronym derives. The club began ice hockey activities after 1929. Today, the full name of the company that owns the ice hockey team is ''HC TPS Turku Oy''. Petrus Palmu
Petrus Palmu (born 16 July 1997) is a Finnish professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing with Linköping HC in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He was drafted 181st overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Palmu played in his native Finland, as a youth with Jokipojat and Jokerit at the Junior A and B level before opting to continue his development in North America after he was selected 22nd overall in the 2014 CHL import draft by the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Tapio Sammalkangas (born March 16, 1980) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey defenceman. Sammalkangas played 671 games in the Finnish Elite League scoring 94 points and 803 penalty minutes. He won the Finnish Championship with the Porin Ässät in 2013 and Tappara in 2017. He was known as a defensive defenceman. Early life Tapio Sammalkangas was born in Tampere, Finland on 16 March 1980.
