Jerônimo De Sousa Monteiro
Jerônimo de Sousa Monteiro (June 4, 1870 – October 23, 1933) was a Brazilian politician. He was a representative (in the local Espírito do Santo's Chamber of Representative and in the Brazilian Federal Chamber of Representatives), a Senator, and the 13th ''president'' (governor) of the state of Espírito Santo, a position he held from May 23, 1908, to May 23, 1912. Monteiro, who was born in Cachoeiro do Itapemirim, Cachoeiro do Itapemirim ES, is traditionally considered the author of the Flag of Espírito Santo, flag of the state of Espírito Santo, which is formed of three horizontal bands—a cyan band on the top, a white band in the middle and a pink band on the bottom—, and has the motto "Trabalha e Confia" (which means "Work and trust") written on the white band. Nestor Gomes (8 September 1875 – 9 March 1941) was a Brazilian politician. He was state representative in Espírito Santo's Chamber of Representatives, ''president'' (governor) of Espírito Santo, and Senator of Espírito Santo in the Brazilian Senate. José De Anchieta
José de Anchieta y Díaz de Clavijo, SJ (Joseph of Anchieta; 19 March 1534 – 9 June 1597) was a Canarian Jesuit missionary to the Portuguese colony of Brazil in the second half of the 16th century. A highly influential figure in Brazil's history in the first century after its European discovery, Anchieta was one of the founders of São Paulo in 1554 and of Rio de Janeiro in 1565. He is the first playwright, the first grammarian and the first poet born in the Canary Islands, and is considered the father of Brazilian literature. Anchieta took part in the religious instruction, evangelization, and conversion to the Catholic faith of the Indian population.
