Jennifer Bricker
Jennifer Bricker-Bauer (born Jennifer Bricker, October 1, 1987) is an American acrobatics, acrobat, aerialist, and memoirist. Born without legs, she was placed for adoption by her parents. She is the sister of American Olympic gymnast Dominique Moceanu, although the two were unaware they were biological siblings until later in life. Career Bricker grew up competing in gymnastics alongside teammates who did not have disabilities. At age of 10, she competed in the Junior Olympics. In 1998, Bricker competed in the AAU Junior Olympics (power tumbling), placing fourth. The same year she received the U.S. Tumbling Association’s Inspiration Award. She was the first disabled high school tumbling (gymnastics), tumbling champion in the state of Illinois. SXSW
South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas. It began in 1987 and has continued growing in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. Closed adoption (also called "confidential" adoption and sometimes "secret" adoption) is a process by which an infant is adopted by another family, and the record of the biological parent(s) is kept sealed. Often, the biological father is not recorded—even on the original birth certificate. An adoption of an older child who already knows their biological parent(s) cannot be made closed or secret. This used to be the most traditional and popular type of adoption, peaking in the decades of the post-World War II Baby Scoop Era.
