Jedi Mind Tricks
Jedi Mind Tricks (JMT) are an American underground hip hop group from Philadelphia, founded in 1996 by two high school friends, rapper Vinnie Paz (Vincenzo Luvineri) and producer Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind (Kevin Baldwin). In 1999, rapper Jus Allah joined the group to record their second studio album, ''Violent by Design''. Jus left the group shortly after, but returned in late 2006 and began working on the sixth studio album, ''A History of Violence (album), A History of Violence''. In 2011 Stoupe left the group because "his heart wasn't in making JMT records anymore". In 2013, Jus split from the group indefinitely, and Stoupe returned in 2015. DJ Kwestion mainly scratches choruses on the turntable. Kwestion is also a part of the group Skratch Makaniks. Kwestion, who is the tour DJ, was a replacement for JMT's previous DJ, Drew Dollars, who is no longer affiliated with the group due to creative differences. Stoupe The Enemy Of Mankind
Kevin Baldwin, better known by his stage name Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind or simply Stoupe, is an American hip hop producer, DJ, and member of the underground hip hop group Jedi Mind Tricks. Stoupe has worked with only a limited number of artists outside of Jedi Mind Tricks, including Stove God Cooks, 7L & Esoteric, Canibus, Virtuoso, Guru (rapper), Guru of Gang Starr and Switch. About.com placed him on its list of the "Top 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Producers". Career After years as a duo and then a trio, Baldwin left Jedi Mind Tricks in 2011 and ''Violence Begets Violence'' would be their only album to not feature Stoupe production. Eamon Doyle (born September 19, 1983 or 1984), known mononymously as Eamon, is an American singer and songwriter. He is mainly known for his 2003 hit single " I Don't Want You Back". Early life Eamon Doyle was born in Staten Island, New York City, the son of Diane ( Zizzo), an Italian-American nurse, and Walter Doyle, a counselor with a private practice, of Irish descent. His father was a member of a doo-wop group named The Elations. He began singing at age nine and touring and performing with his father's group at the same age. Recording sessions took place at Found Sound Recording in Philadelphia. Production was handled by member Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind. It features guest appearances from Block McCloud, Demoz, Doap Nixon, King Magnetic and OuterSpace. Violent By Design
''Violent by Design'' is the second album by underground hip hop group Jedi Mind Tricks. Despite never reaching any ''Billboard'' album chart, the album sold 50,000 copies in its first week on shelves. The album was originally released on JMT's self-run Superegular Records on October 3, 2000. JMT's previous label, Babygrande Records, re-released the album on May 25, 2004. The original vinyl release featured twenty tracks, while the original CD release featured two extra tracks: the "Heavenly Divine Remix", originally released on the B-Side to JMT's "Heavenly Divine" single, and "War Ensemble", originally released as the B-Side of the Army of the Pharaohs '' Five Perfect Exertions'' EP. Babygrande's ''Deluxe Edition'' featured three more bonus tracks: "Untitled", "Retaliation Remix" and "Blood Runs Cold", the latter two originally featured on the "Retaliation" single. Underground Hip Hop
Underground hip hop (also known as underground rap or simply underground) traditionally refers to hip hop music that is outside the general mainstream canon or counter-cultural in nature, usually with a heavy emphasis on emotion, lyricism, and/or social consciousness. Being outside of the mainstream, it is common for artists or songs that are considered "underground" to have little commercial success, though this is not a requirement, as many have gained massive followings, especially in the streaming era. In recent years, the term has also been used to refer to hip hop subgenres that incorporate themes of trap, plugg, milwaukee lowend, drill or rage which often feature melodic vocals with heavy use of Auto-Tune (or similar pitch correction tools) with virtually no focus on lyricism or connection to counterculture.
